FUNKY REMIXES IS ONE YEAR OLD

It’s hard to believe… but it’s been one year since I launched funkyremixes.com. The support and interest in this site has been shocking, and I look forward to another year of funky and free music.

There have been 38,112 visitors to the website since it started, and I have had visits from just about every country and every continent on earth (except Antarctica!… I guess people living on ice don’t listen to music to stay warm?).

Hopefully every single person found some remixes to download.

In their own words…

The Northern Hemisphere is next… thanks for the love guys!

The Funky Remixes Blog

Thanks for checking out our funky blog. This is where we will chat with our visitors to keep them informed with what’s happening in the open music culture and provide them with a steady stream of funky and free remixes. We are just getting our blog started so please be patient… there will be lots of funky things to write about and plenty of remixes to feature, but we just need some time to get down and get busy.

If you haven’t heard our funky music yet, you should check it out. It’s all free to download and share thanks to some innovative copyright licenses from Creative Commons. Artists from all over the world, including major recording artists, have donated their time and music to the idea of a free music culture. These acts of generosity not only give listeners a place to find free music, but they also give music artists access to resources that they can sample to create remixes, mash-ups and other works.

Notable artists that have licensed music to the public for free use include; Beastie Boys, Fort Minor, Chuck D, Thievery Corporation, DJ Vadim, David Byrne, Le Tigre, Danger Mouse and Jemini, Spoon, My Morning Jacket, The Rapture and Zap Mama.
